The Irish Wheelchair Association and Liberty Insurance have launched the IWA Run’n’Roll Proudly Supported by Liberty Insurance under the slogan #MovedByValues.

Runners, rollers, and strollers will be at their marks to promote the inclusion of people with disabilities in Irish society on Sunday, September 3rd, in a relaxed, fun, and family-friendly atmosphere at St. Anne’s Park, Raheny, Dublin 5.

Last year’s event represented the first time the Liberty Race took place in Ireland and Northern Ireland. Almost 400 people took part, raising more than €17,000 for IWA. Liberty and IWA are hoping to continue to grow the event this year following the success of the race in Madrid. The Liberty race, which is now in its 16th year in Spain, sees almost 8,000 people participate annually for inclusivity.

Thanks to Liberty’s support, 100% of the race registration fee of €20 goes to IWA*. As part of its commitment to putting people first, Liberty Ireland will also make a €1 donation to IWA for every participant in the race. Participants are also encouraged to donate to Irish Wheelchair Association.

Liberty also works with its disability allies Jack Kavanagh and Joanne O’Riordan and IWA throughout the year to promote the normalisation of disabilities in society.

All participants who register for the race will receive a specially designed commemorative t-shirt and medal as part of their welcome pack.

“We are delighted to launch this important race for inclusivity, and we hope to grow on the success of last year’s event,” said Juan Miguel Estallo, CEO of Liberty Insurance, Western Europe Markets.

“We are committed to greater equity, diversity and inclusion within society, and central to this commitment is greater support and allyship with our family and friends, colleagues and customers with disabilities.”

“While the race is still in its infancy in an Irish context, it is celebrating its 16th year in Spain, with 8,000 people participating annually. Following the race in Madrid, we are looking forward to returning the Liberty Race to Ireland for a second year, in partnership with the IWA.”

“We are proud to partner with IWA on this initiative and look forward to seeing as many people as possible ‘running and rolling’ on 3 September in Dublin.”

“We are thrilled that our ally Liberty Insurance are once again proudly supporting the Run ‘n’ Roll event, and we hope to see people of all abilities and ages out on the day getting some exercise, meeting friends new and old, and having a fun filled experience,” added David Barry of the IWA.

“I’m really looking forward to the IWA Run’n’Roll again this year,” said Joanne O’Riordan, ambassador for the event.

“It’s great to have this race for inclusivity back again. There was a really good turnout last year and a fantastic atmosphere on the day.”

“Hopefully this year can be even better. I’d love to see as many people as possible Run’n’Roll with us in St. Anne’s Park for the race on 3 September.”
