Ireland’s Emma Slevin, the first Irish gymnast to qualify for an All-Around final at the World Championships, will compete in those finals tomorrow morning, live on RTÉ Player.

Coverage of the Women’s Artistic Gymnastics Final will begin at 9.55 am, tomorrow, Thursday 21 October on RTÉ Player live from the FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Championships at the Kitakyushu General Gymnasium, Japan.

RTÉ is the Irish rights holder for the Championships and had retained the opportunity to show the Finals live if either Slevin or Rhys McLenaghan qualified.

Slevin did so on Monday morning, earning a spot as our Irish Sporting Performance of the Day.

Unfortunately, McLenaghan did not make it through qualification this morning. he was getting ready to perform his routine when the competition was paused due to one of the competitors testing positive for Covid and the equipment needing to be sanitised.

Japan has not been lucky for the 22-year-old after high hopes for the Olympic Games also ended in disapointment.
