Sport for Business is hosting ‘This Sporting Life’, one of the key breakout sessions on Friday.
“Our theme is how sport can break down barriers,” said Sport for Business Founder Rob Hartnett. “We are living our own message by bringing together three great sports in hurling, soccer and basketball as the backdrop for an afternoon that we believe will live long in the memory of those who join us.”
Experience Gaelic Games will demonstrate the skills of hurling at their new headquarters in Na Fianna GAA Club in Glasnevin.
The same venue will host a special presentation by Peace Players on how they have helped to heal community division in Northern Ireland and around the world.
The third leg of the sports breakout will be a session run by the FAI and Continental Tyres on the adjacent Home Farm soccer pitch.
“Others among the 25 hosts include Google, Facebook, Intel, Unilever, Diageo and Electric Ireland,” added Hartnett. “When we were approached to host by the organisers through John McGrane and others of our members, we jumped at the chance to put sport front and centre stage of how Ireland presents itself to the world.”
“The leaders we will welcome to Dublin next week will include some that will shape the future of the planet in years to come.”
“Our simple aim is to show the collaborative power of sport; to leave them enthused and inspired by what sport can do; and how there is nowhere in the world better than Ireland to host an event with sport at its heart.”
The GAA are also major supporters of the week of events.
