Sport for Business and the University of Limerick are to host their second Annual Sports Tourism in Ireland Conference in Limerick on Tuesday, April 29th.
Among the subjects to be covered will be case studies on events that have been attracted to Ireland in recent years and a discussion on ‘What International Federations Look For in a Host City.’
We will also discuss the new International Sports and Events Arena planned for Dublin, the newly redeveloped Shelbourne Park Stadium and Ireland’s position as a venue for an enormous range of sporting events.
Ian Costello, Head of Rugby Operations at Munster Rugby will be one of our keynote speakers talking about alingnment between the many moving parts that make up a great sporting collaborative effort.
The President of World Obstacle, Ian Adamson, the Co-Founder of World Freestyle Football, Dan Wood and Dan O’Sullivan of Limerick County Council are also among the speakers.
They will be joined by Olympian Thomas Barr and Paralympian Roisín Ní Ríain for their perspectives on what makes a great Host City.
We will have Knowledge Bursts on the staging of the IFAF European Flag Football Championship and the ECU European Schools Championships.
The event will also include presentations by the Shannon Region Conference and Sports Bureau to a group of their sports ambassadors.
The day will commence with Coffee and Networking at 10 AM and will also include lunch.
