The SSE Airtricity First Division kicks off this evening and we have been taking a whistle-stop tour of the clubs to see how they are shaping up in terms of commercial partnerships for the year ahead.
All ten have sponsorship deals in place for their front of shirt, ranging from construction and tech to hotels and ticketing.
Edufit with Cabinteely, Bishopsgate Group at Longford Town and the Metropole Hotel with Cobh Ramblers are three of the new deals that stand out this season.
Athlone Town
Top Oil has stayed on board as the main club sponsor for another season and with a new management set up at the club, there are hopes for more success on the field than has been the case in recent years.
Bray Wanderers
Matt Britton Carpets will be on the shirt as they enter the second season of a three year deal as the clubs main sponsor.
Club owner Niall O’Driscoll has his major insurance broker O’Driscol O’Neill on the sponsorship roster alongside Lifestyle Sports, Campus Oil and Frank Keane Volkswagen
Cabinteely
A three-year deal was announced earlier this month with EDUFIT, a provider of app-based learning platforms for the gym and sports club sector.
The sponsorship will cover the first team front of the jersey as well as the deployment of EDUFIT Training and Communications software platforms to the entire club.
Friends First, Sherry Fitzgerald, Windsor Motors, the Royal Marine Hotel and Core Credit Union are also listed on the club website as backers.
Cobh Ramblers
Cobh has one of the biggest new shirt front sponsorships in the First Division having unveiled the historic Metropole Hotel in Cork as appearing on their shirt front just this week.
Drogheda United
Scotch Hall Shopping Centre are long term partners and back again for the season ahead.
In the early months of 2020, they have been running an innovative promotion to win naming rights on the stadium for a charity of a local business’s choice.
We’ll be having a chat with Chairman Conor Hoey about the future of the club in the coming weeks.
Galway United
Property developers Comer Group Ireland are the clubs main sponsor and extended the partnership for a further two years in the middle of last season.
In addition, they have made a 40-acre site near Athenry available for the development of a training centre of excellence.
Atlantic, Apache Pizza, Titan HQ, Ground and Co, Pressed 4 Time laundry, Kingfisher and Galway City are also backing the club as well as Irish language promoter Foras na Gaeilge. Maith thú Gaillimh.
Longford Town
Bishopsgate Group is the new sponsor for the season ahead, both on the shirt front and as naming rights partner on Longford Town’s ground.
The company is involved in payroll solutions for the construction sector and came on board at the end of last season replacing CityCall, an online recruitment company who were on the shirt front last season.
The Munnelly Group are also listed as supporters and the kit deal is with Macron.
Shamrock Rovers II
There has been much talk about the entry of a Shamrock Rovers second team in the First Division but they are here for this season at least and will share the same sponsorship as the first team with JD Sport appearing on the front of the shirts and a strong line up of commercial supporters involved with the club.
UCD
O’Neills are long term supporters of the UCD teams and will be on the shirt front for another season.
The club is run very much as a University team, built on scholarship players. Bank of Ireland have taken over the backing of the UCD Superleague which is a major network of student teams in action each week.
Wexford FC
Premier tickets is a new brand on the front of the club shirt for 2020 with a host of major and minor brands listed as supports on a busy sponsorship page.
