Hairy Babay O'DonovanHairy Baby, an Irish T-shirt manufacturer with a knack for good timing was all over the O’Donovan Brothers win on Friday, releasing a limited edition t-shirt within hours that will be screen printed tomorrow and shipped to 1,000 buyers on Wednesday.

Taking a line from the lads TV interview in advance of the Final, the t-shirt will also raise at least some money for the lads though how that will manifest itself has yet to be determined.

“We will be making a donation from the sale of each shirt,” read a statement on Facebook in response to queries over whether the lads would be getting anything from the sale of the t-shirts.

“The unbelievable commitment of our Olympians is something we as a company want to support and we know from your reaction to this shirt that you want to as well.”

“It’s pretty obvious the lads need sponsorship and their sport isn’t televised so this is a great way to help.”

“We want to discuss it with the lads first and not commit to anything until we have their approval.”

Being a Cork company they will have local knowledge on getting the brothers in to have their shirts presented to them on their return and it has been a great burst of publicity for the company regardless.

Now we just have to hope that the International Olympic Committee working through the Olympic Council of Ireland don’t come down on them for unauthorised use of Olympic generated content…

The again, perhaps the respective legal teams are a little tied up elsewhere at the moment.
