The Government in Britain remains steadfast that it will be fully open for business with no restrictions by June 21st.

Sport is one of the areas where the gathering of large crowds will be most evident and potentially most transformational in terms of mood, economics and more.

Yesterday the Government released details of a number of different sporting events that will be permitted to run test events, with increasing numbers of people in the arena or taking part.

Detailed analysis will be undertaken at each of the events with the evidence shared across the sport and events community.

Venues and promoters themselves will be asked to collect evidence and to implement a variety of different mitigation factors including social distancing, testing on entry, negative test confirmations and others.

The World Snooker Championship, held indoors at Sheffield’s Crucible theatre will be among the first of the test events with 1,000 spectators a day allowed from April 17th up to the Final on May 3rd.

The FA Cup Semi-Final between Leicester and Southampton will allow 4,000 fans, 5 per cent of capacity, at Wembley Stadium on April 18th with double that number the following week for the Carabao Cup Final.

There are plans for 15,000 fans at the FA Cup Final on the 15th of May.

Three 10K runs north of London will be permitted with 3,000 participants and 3,000 spectators at each event.

It will be a nervy month with every potential positive case carrying extra weight with regards to the wider opening up.

But we have to start back somewhere and we will look to have as much evidence as has been made available for our own Sport for Business return to Sport Conference on April 29th.
