TG4 has been confirmed as the broadcasting partner for the 2026 GAA World Games, which will take place in Waterford from Monday, July 13th to Friday, July 17th.
The Games will bring together teams from across the world for what is expected to be the biggest staging of the event to date, with 114 teams taking part and more non-Irish-born players involved than ever before.
As part of the agreement, TG4 will broadcast all eight finals live from Finals Day on Friday, July 17th, on the Spórt TG4 YouTube channel, opening the event to audiences in Ireland and around the world.
TG4 will also produce a one-hour highlights programme, to be broadcast on Monday, August 10th at 8 pm and repeated on Saturday, August 15th at 10.10 am. The programme will feature the best of the action from the finals, interviews with players, guests and organisers, and colour from across the week of activity in Waterford.
Group matches will be played at the SETU Waterford campus, with the finals taking place at Azzurri Walsh Park. The Games will feature teams from World GAA regions including Europe, Britain, USGAA, Australasia, Canada, Asia, New York, the Middle East, South America and Africa.
The week will also include an opening ceremony in Waterford City, cultural exhibitions, networking events and community activity celebrating the wider global GAA family.
“TG4 is proud to come on board as broadcasting partner for the 2026 GAA World Games,” said Rónán Ó Coisdealbha, Head of Sport at TG4.
“This is a unique event that celebrates not only Gaelic games, but the communities, volunteers and players who are bringing our games to new audiences all over the world.”
“TG4 has a long-standing commitment to Gaelic games and to telling stories that connect Irish culture, language and identity. The GAA World Games are a powerful expression of that global connection, and we are delighted to help bring the colour, energy and stories of the Games to audiences at home and abroad.”
“We are delighted that TG4 will further deepen their iconic connection with Gaelic games through their broadcast support of the oneills.com GAA World Games in Waterford,” said GAA President Jarlath Burns.
“From its earliest days TG4 made the exceptional coverage of our games their calling card and they helped drive standards, promote our games and our native language.”
“The World Games is a celebration of the phenomenal growth that is World GAA with its more than 500 clubs, each one of them a community hub for our Diaspora and drawing new converts to our national sports. TG4 will do a great job at showcasing this success.”
The GAA World Games take place every three years and have become an important showcase for the growth of Gaelic games beyond Ireland. The 2026 event in Waterford follows the 2023 edition in Derry and will further underline the scale and ambition of the global GAA network.
The broadcast production will be delivered by Nemeton TV, the independent production company based in An Rinn in the Waterford Gaeltacht, and responsible for much of TG4’s sports output.
For TG4, the partnership adds another layer to its deep-rooted commitment to Gaelic games, while for World GAA it provides a valuable platform to tell the stories of players, clubs and communities who are carrying Irish sport and culture into new parts of the world.
