TG4’s role as both title sponsor and exclusive broadcaster of the TG4 All-Ireland Ladies Football Championships has evolved into a full-scale celebration of the women’s game – and this year, the station is going bigger than ever.
In the lead-up to this Sunday’s Finals Day at Croke Park, TG4 is delivering an unprecedented slate of content across TV, podcast, and digital platforms. From a Finals Preview Podcast to a specially produced Ceiliúradh Peil na mBan entertainment show, the week showcases a deep and evolving partnership between Ireland’s Irish-language broadcaster and the Ladies Gaelic Football Association.
Sunday marks the 52nd staging of the Senior All-Ireland Final and the culmination of a triple-header featuring Junior, Intermediate, and Senior deciders – all broadcast live, free-to-air, and worldwide on TG4 and the TG4 Player.
“TG4’s support is never just about match day,” said LGFA President Trína Murray, who will be presenting the trophies for the first time in her newly elected role on Sunday.
“It’s a full-circle investment in the players, the communities, and the stories that make Ladies Football such a vital part of our sporting identity.”
Ceiliúradh Peil na mBan – Music, Memories, and Matchday Magic
A standout in this year’s expanded content is Ceiliúradh Peil na mBan 2025, airing Saturday night at 21:45, a primetime tribute to the six finalist counties.
Hosted by Máire Ní Bhraonáin, the programme blends music, culture, and storytelling, featuring exclusive interviews with players and families from Dublin, Meath, Laois, Tyrone, Antrim, and Louth.
Viewers can expect performances from the likes of Na Fianna, Buíoch, and Maeve O’Donnell, as well as heartfelt reflections on journeys to Croke Park. The show also honours the Jubilee Team of 2000, with sisters Marcella and Chris Heffernan recalling their landmark victory 25 years ago.
Podcast Preview Adds Expert Insight
TG4’s Peil na mBan Beo podcast returns with a Finals Preview episode that dropped on Thursday evening on Spórt TG4 YouTube.
Máire Ní Bhraonáin is joined by LGFA stalwarts Michelle Ryan and Emer Ní Ghallchóir for a detailed look at the match-ups across all three grades.
Championship Storylines Take Centre Stage
This year’s Senior marks a fresh chapter, as both defending champions Dublin and 2021/2022 winners Meath exited at the quarter-final stage last year, leaving the road clear for Kerry and Galway but this year, the finalists from 2021 are back in the arena together.
Speaking at the Captain’s Day event in Croke Park on Tuesday, Dublin captain Carla Rowe reflected: “Meath are a really strong team. We know that from 2021, we know that from playing them over Leinster Championships and everything throughout the last couple of years and obviously this year.”
Meath captain Aoibhín Cleary added: “On All-Ireland Final day anything can happen – getting the crowd behind you like that will have a huge impact.”
The Intermediate and Junior deciders bring their own compelling narratives: Laois aim to bounce back to senior level, while Tyrone look to shake the tag of runners-up. In the Junior Final, Louth seek redemption after last year’s heartbreak, while Antrim arrive unbeaten and hungry to rebound from relegation.
TG4’s commitment ensures these stories are told with depth and authenticity – on screen, online, and in Irish.
A Model Partnership for Women’s Sport
As viewership figures for women’s sports continue to rise, TG4’s pioneering relationship with the LGFA is often held up as a model of what long-term, values-based partnerships can achieve.
The broadcaster has been title sponsor of the Championships since 2001, building a legacy of visibility and respect for players at all levels.
“TG4’s investment is strategic, sustained, and deeply aligned with the spirit of the LGFA,” said Sport for Business founder Rob Hartnett. “It’s not just about broadcasting matches – it’s about creating shared national moments.”
With Finals Day set to bring a huge crowd to Croke Park and many more tuning in at home and abroad, TG4’s Championship week is a case study in what happens when media, sport, and culture work together to uplift women’s sport.
