This year’s Guinness PRO14 Final will be the first between Leinster and Munster in ten years. Munster won back when the tournament was the Magners League in 2011. Leinster had won the first title of the old Celtic League back in 2002. On only two occasions has neither side made it to the Final.

Phil Healy was Ireland’s star performer at the European Athletics Indoor Championships in Poland. The Cork star won her 400 metres heat and semi-final and just missed out on a medal in finishing fourth in the final in a personal best time of 51.94

Kilkenny secured six places on the 2020 Liberty Insurance Camogie All-Stars streamed live on Saturday night. Claire Phelan, Davina Talbot, Grace Walsh, Denise Gaule, Miriam Dalton and Anne Dalton were the winners, with Denise Gaule taking home the WGPA Player of the Year Award.

The number of years since an Irish rider has worn the Leaders Jersey at the Paris-Nice Classic. Sam Bennett continued his rich vein of form by securing the opening stage of the race, won in the past by Stephen Roche in 1981 and Sean Kelly for the last of his seven back in 1988.

Irish speed skater Liam O’Brien finished in 29th place overall at his first World Championship event in the Netherlands over the weekend. It is the highest position any Irish athlete has secured in the sport. O’Brien was born in Australia but his parents are from Leitrim and Cavan. His placing has secured a spot at the 2022 World Championships to take place in Montreal.
