The total number of Irish athletes heading to the London 2012 Olympics has now climbed to 46 after canoeists Eoin Rheinisch and Hannah Craig as well as 50KM walker Colin Griffin qualified over the weekend.
Rheinisch will be taking part in his third games and paid tribute in an RTE Radio interview to his family and his sponsors after qualifying in Germany.
Craig also spoke of her supporters in a BBC interview, saying they were a vital player in her ability to train and race overseas for 180 days a year.  Craig founded her own clothing company to help fund her participation in the sport.
Griffin picked up two warnings in the first 10KM of his race in Russia but settled then to recors a time six minutes inside the qualification standard.
The Women’s Boxing World Championships are underway in China and Medal hope Katie Taylor begins her campaign today.  RTE have a reporter at the event and hope to bring live coverage to our screens the further she advances through the tournament.
