Tote, the racecourse betting platform owned and operated under the control of Horse Racing Ireland, is celebrating 15 years as title sponsor of the iconic Tote Galway Plate, the centrepiece of Day Three at the Galway Races Summer Festival and one of the most storied contests in Irish racing.
The anniversary underlines Tote’s enduring commitment to the sport, to Galway Racecourse, and to the communities that make the Festival one of Ireland’s great summer traditions.
This milestone year will be marked on Wednesday, July 30, with the Plate continuing to command national attention, and forming a powerful sporting backdrop to the Sport for Business Networking Event taking place in Galway that same morning.
The event will bring together leaders in sport and business for a morning of conversation and engagement and you can register your interest in attending at the Sport for Business Events link below.
Partnership That Goes Beyond the Track
Tote’s support of the Galway Plate, which began in 2010, has grown beyond simple naming rights. It now includes direct investment in race-day operations, engagement with trainers, jockeys, and punters, and local recruitment that contributes to the Festival’s economic footprint.
“The Galway Racing Festival is the highlight of the busy summer racing season, and we are delighted to continue our sponsorship of the Tote Galway Plate,” said Lynda Reilly, General Manager at Tote.
“The entries for this year’s renewal will be revealed on July 17 and we look forward to another great race. We are proud that our involvement goes beyond sponsorship — it also means local employment, economic uplift, and being part of a tradition that brings people together.”
Building a Tradition Together
Michael Moloney, CEO of Galway Racecourse, welcomed the 15-year partnership as one of the driving forces behind the Plate’s continued rise in profile.
“The Tote Galway Plate is a race everyone wants to win, from owners, trainers and jockeys to everyone in the stands watching on,” he said.
“Having Tote as our partner for 15 years means we’ve been able to grow the race while keeping true to its wonderful heritage. Tote’s backing has helped elevate this day to one of the most atmospheric and thrilling in the Irish racing calendar.”
“Tote has been an exceptional partner to Galway Racecourse, and together we’ve built something truly special. Their continued support has helped us grow the Galway Plate into one of the most prestigious races of the week, and their commitment to the local community is deeply valued.”
A Racing and Business Celebration in the West
The Tote Galway Plate Day has always been about more than just the sport — it’s a celebration of heritage, excitement, and connection. That sense of occasion will be felt across Galway as Sport for Business hosts its annual Networking Event on the morning of July 30, bringing together key figures in the business of sport just hours before the horses go to post.
With racing, community, and business all intertwined, the continued success of the Tote Galway Plate stands as a shining example of how long-term partnerships can deliver value both on and off the track.
