Most schools have been returning this week and Transition Year students in particular will face the choice of what projects to undertake over the coming months.
One that might spring to mind among schools who have a love of sport and a strong empathy with those who have a disability will be the the Irish Wheelchair Association All Ireland TY Wheelchair Basketball Championships.
It’s a bit of a mouthful but it is a fantastic initiative which raises money and awareness of what it is like to be in a chair.
This is the 3rd year of the competition which is very competitive but also allows students first-hand experience of what it feels like to use a wheelchair for a short duration of time.
This year regional finals and finals place from January – April 2020
Each participating school is asked to raise €1000 to take part in the All Ireland TY Wheelchair Basketball Championships. Funds raised will go directly to ensuring that Irish Wheelchair Association can continue to deliver their vital services to our 20,000 members.
