
The award will be determined by the result of a public vote on the night and seven teams have been shortlisted to take on the mantle awarded to the O’Donovan brothers in 2016.
The seven teams shortlisted for the awards are:
Cork Camogie
Became the most successful county in Camogie history by winning their 27th All Ireland title.
Cork City FC
Won a historic double of the SSE Airtricity League Premier Division title and the Irish Daily Mail FAI Cup.
Dublin Football
Beat Mayo in the All-Ireland Final to become Dublin’s first three-in-a-row All Ireland Football champions since 1923
Dublin Ladies Football
Ended a run of three consecutive All Ireland Final defeats by beating Mayo to win the Brendan Martin Cup.

Galway Hurling
Defeated Waterford in the All Ireland Final to end the Tribesmen’s Liam McCarthy drought which stretched back to 1988
Irish Showjumping Team
Team Ireland won the gold medal at the European Championships in Gothenburg.
Mark O’Donovan & Shane O’Driscoll
Ireland’s Mark O’Donovan and Shane O’Driscoll from Skibbereen Rowing Club struck lightweight gold at the World Rowing Championship in Florida.
