The British & Irish Lions have unveiled a new performance partner with human performance company WHOOP signing on as an Official Supplier for the Tour to Australia.

The partnership will see all players, coaches, and backroom staff equipped with WHOOP’s cutting-edge wearable technology throughout the Tour and during the vital lead-up period.

As part of the collaboration, the Lions will be fully integrated with WHOOP 5.0 — the brand’s latest generation wearable that provides continuous, real-time health insights.

The technology is designed to monitor recovery, manage sleep, mitigate the effects of jet lag, and track key performance metrics, including Heart Rate Variability (HRV), Resting Heart Rate (RHR), and Sleep Performance.

On a Tour that involves long-haul travel, multiple time zones, and demanding fixtures across Australia, WHOOP’s platform will play a vital role in helping the squad adapt quickly and perform at their peak.

Lions players will also benefit from access to the WHOOP Unite platform, additional WHOOP accessories, and wearable garments specifically developed for elite performance and recovery.

“Performance, preparation, and player welfare sit at the heart of a successful Lions Tour,” said Dan Tobin, the Lions’ Strength and Conditioning Coach. “This partnership with WHOOP ensures our players and staff have access to world-class technology and data to support them every step of the way. We’re delighted to welcome WHOOP to the Lions family.”

WHOOP’s presence on the Tour comes at a time of major innovation for the Boston-headquartered company, which has launched a reimagined experience across both its hardware and software. Recent product enhancements include features like Healthspan tracking, an on-demand ECG Heart Screener, Blood Pressure Insights, and expanded support for women’s health with enhanced hormonal tracking.

Briain Curtin, Vice President of Global Marketing at WHOOP and based as part of the team operating out of Ireland, said the company was honoured to be part of such a prestigious and historic sporting event.

“We’re proud to support the British & Irish Lions, one of the most iconic teams in global sport, with our latest technology as they take on this demanding Tour. WHOOP is designed to empower individuals with actionable insights into their health, lifestyle, and physiology, which will be hugely beneficial not only to the players but to the wider team as they travel to Australia for this series.”

The Tour includes a full itinerary of matches in Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney, and other major Australian cities. The Lions’ last visit to Australia in 2013 ended in a memorable Test Series win, and anticipation is already building for another fiercely competitive campaign.
