Sara Rose Shelly – High-Performance Coordinator at Golf Ireland

Sara Rose Shelly is a key member of the High-Performance team at Golf Ireland.

In her role as HP Coordinator she manages the logistics around Golf Ireland’s coaching programme and works closely with other members of the department on other aspects of Golf Ireland’s HP Programme.

This is a challenging role that involves organising coaching all around the island for almost five hundred golfers in conjunction with numerous different stakeholders.

Sara Rose is often the go-to for parents and players who need information on the different parts of the programme. She also plays an important role around Golf Ireland’s Interprovincial Championships which take place in six different categories each year.

She has worked in a variety of seasonal roles across sport including with Athletics Ireland, at the Wimbledon Championships and as a Hockey Coach.

In addition to her day to day role, Sara Rose is a valued participant in the inaugural Women in Golf Leadership program hosted by Golf Ireland in conjunction with the R&A.

She graduated from University College Dublin with a degree in Sports and Exercise Management.

Sara Rose is a keen golfer herself with a handicap of 5 and brings her passion for the sport through to her work every day.

This annual list identifies those under the age of 30 who are making a mark in the business of sport in 2022. It is compiled with the ongoing support of PwC, ‘where potential becomes success’.

The criteria for nomination is that they should either be working in a role that sees them playing a significant part in sports administration, sports marketing or the commercial world of sport; or that they are a graduate of an Irish third-level institution and making their mark on the international stage, and that they were born in or after 1992.
