Canterbury launched the new Irish Rugby Jersey on Friday, completing a new line up of shirts in each of the three biggest sellers among Irish consumers after O’Neills and Umbro’s release of new kit for Dublin GAA and the Republic of Ireland soccer team.

The new shirt carries the Vodafone logo for the first time and is that worn by the team on the summer tour to South Africa. It is retailing on the Canterbury website and through retailers for €65 for adults and €50 for kids.

It is billed as the most innovative and technically advanced rugby jersey ever worn by an Irish rugby team.

Canterbury’s innovation team, The Canterbury Lab, worked closely with members of the Irish rugby team and management to ensure their meticulous pre-game preparation is matched by the kit they line out in.

The new shirt benefits from a range of innovations, including reduced fabrication weight, minimising moisture absorption for Canterbury’s most lightweight kit ever.

Developed through position-specific 3D body-mapping the new jersey offers a super enhanced fit catering for the varied physiques of the modern rugby player.

Adaptive fabrication with dynamic heat management properties ensures a constant temperature is maintained in any climate and Canterbury’s toughest 360° loop bound neckline with enhanced elasticity and shape retention has been designed to withstand the toughest of challenges.

Supporters can choose from the “Pro” jersey which retains the look of the jersey that will be worn by the team, while offering a more comfortable fit as well as a “Classic” jersey that offers a contemporary design on the classic collared rugby jersey.

The jersey launch signifies the start of Canterbury’s Not Luck. Only Commitment. campaign which will include a number of activities including the “Henshaw Hardway” training session.
