Two Senators have been vocally critical of the GAA for the fact that they are unable to secure tickets for Sunday’s All Ireland Football Final.

Michelle Mulherrin and Catherine Noone have both been very agitated at not being offered the facility to buy tickets, while others have been more sanguine recognising that their is no divine, or even electoral right to the hottest tickets in town.

The GAA does make the facility available, whenever possible for TD’s and Local Councillors of the competing counties to apply to buy tickets.

Long standing support of the Association is a fair way to gauge any priority that needs to be applied but there will still be eyebrows raised among club members who over the last few nights will have been sweating on the distribution of tickets through club draws.

That’s how the bulk of tickets are distributed and its a system which rewards the most loyal of club volunteers and members.

It is entirely possible that Croke Park could be sold out twice or more for Sunday but with Croke Park already the third largest stadium in Europe there is not much more that can be done.

Regular fans do not have the access to media to appear on prime time radio bemoaning the fact that they are being harshly treated.  There are many, including especially within political circles who feel that politicians should take their chances as well and certainly not be so vocal about a perceived injustice.
