The sponsorship will mean that the navy and white Square Towncentre logo will appear from this weekend on both sleeves of the famous hooped jersey. Seat are the main club sponsor and appear on the front of the shirt. Woodies, who they replaced last year are on the back. All three will also be seen on pitch and stadium hoardings, as well as indoors, at Tallaght Stadium.
As part of the deal, the Square logo will also feature on the front cover of match-day programmes, as well as on match-day support materials and Shamrock Rovers’ official website.
The Square Towncentre also confirmed it will offer free parking at the centre for matches taking place at Tallaght Stadium, making parking easier and more accessible for match supporters from the local community.
“This partnership is a real example of a mutually beneficial sponsorship deal,” said Jonathan Roche, Chairman of Shamrock Rovers. “We are delighted to be associated with The Square, which has been at the centre of the Tallaght community for over 20 years. Since moving into Tallaght Stadium in 2009, we have enjoyed great support from the local community and this deal with The Square is yet another example of that.”
This is the second shopping centre sponsorship in Irish Soccer in the past few weeks after Scotch Hall became the main sponsor of Drogheda United.
Both clubs are part of the rich story of Irish soccer which began to be told in an excellent documentary, ‘Green is the Colour’ on RTE on Wednesday night. The first of a four part series, hosted by Darragh Moloney, was warmly greeted across social media with credit being given for the level of research and detail that went into the production. You can catch up with the first show on the RTE Player. Episode Two which picks up from the first Irish international against Italy, airs next Wednesday, May 23rd.
