We like a quality piece of sports content marketing and that’s what we got yesterday as signed up fans of the Nat West Six Nations.

Packed full of a mix of video, text and visual content the launch email tells us everything we need to know about how to follow, how to watch and how to get involved in the tournament when it kicks off the weekend after next.

Players, managers and media were all shipped into London where a full set of temporary studios were set up and ready to accommodate the broadcast media partners as well as the in-house teams from the tournament and each of the Unions.

This will be TV3’s first year of broadcasting the games.  They will show all of them over the course of the seven weekends and Sinead Kissane was on hand to interview Joe Schmidt and Rory Best.

There was a selection of images from the launch to be shared across individuals social media as well as a Fantasy competition, an online retail store to deliver kit and merchandise and details of the newly updated app and how to download it.

All of the material has been recoloured and rebranded to take account of the new Nat West overall sponsorship of the competition and while that deal was only for one year, the search continues for a long-term replacement.

As previously Ulster Bank will be the brand associated with the tournament here in Ireland

“The 2017 Championship saw us achieve some record numbers across the likes of TV and digital platforms,” said Nat West 6 Natioins Chairman Pat Whelan from Limerick.

“This year, we will look to beat those numbers as we get set for the most competitive Championship in years with England looking for a historic third consecutive Championship win, while we can expect strong performances from the other five nations who will be vying for that coveted crown.”

The launch took place as well of the Women’s 6 Nations with Ciara Griffin taking on the captain’s role for the first time and looking as though she thoroughly enjoyed the experience in the video content produced by Barry Cunningham and the team at Irish Rugby.

To whet your appetite for the games ahead here’s a look again at the TV promo put together by TV3 in advance of their own debut.
