Toyota Ireland is backing 800 metre Olympic hopeful Nadia Power as part of its Start Your Impossible campaign.
The brand is the Worldwide Mobility Partner of both the Olympic and Paralympic Games and featured Jason Smyth as part of its global campaign launched last year to tell athlete stories.
“Because athletics is a smaller sport in Ireland, we do not get the same kind of commercial opportunities that might exist in other sports so it is great that someone like Toyota is backing us in this way,” she told media yesterday.
“It can be tough to get the funding in place so that you can concentrate on the running but I have received a lot of support this year and help from different people.”
Power spoke during the lockdown as part of a Sport for Business special event looking to overcome racism in Irish sport.
“I think a major part of making a difference would be to focus on the presentation of diversity in the media and advertising so that it better reflects the way we are as a society,” she told us at the time.
After an indoor season where she shone setting Irish records and competing at the European Championships it is great to see her also making a breakthrough in terms of becoming a brand ambassador.
