Intercounty Gaelic games teams will be able to commence training from April 19th. Then one week later children’s sport will be permitted in an outdoor non-contact environment.
On that same date, tennis and golf clubs will be permitted to reopen to members, abiding by the same Covid-19 protocols as were in place throughout last summer.
It could have been better in this evening’s news from Cabinet but it could have been a lot worse as well.
The return of training from children under the age of 18 will have the biggest impact across homes and families while the prospect of a May resumption for the Allianz Football and Hurling leagues as well as the Lidl National League in Ladies Football and the Littlewoods League in Camogie will equally raise spirits across the country.
We will have a full reaction from across the sporting spectrum on Sport for Business on Wednesday morning.
