parkrun presenting partner Vhi is starting 2023 with a novel twist in Cabinteely in Dublin this weekend.
Olympian David Gillick will join Vhi staff at their first volunteer takeover of the year at Cabinteely parkrun on Saturday morning.
Blue Monday is on 16 January, considered to be one of the toughest days of the year for us all, and the initiative is to highlight people’s ability to experience the mental and physical benefits that parkrun can bring by taking part as a walker, jogger, runner or a volunteer.
Research shows that no matter how you choose to get involved, parkrun can have a beneficial impact on your health.
A previous survey found that more than 90 percent of parkrunners have reported a sense of personal achievement and improvements in physical health.
Gillick will kick off the morning with some warm-up exercises and will be providing a rare enough opportunity to run alongside an Olympian.
Sport for Business Perspective:
Getting out and getting active is important regardless of the occasion. parkrun has provided an opportunity to do that in a non-competitive manner over recent years and bringing the Vhi team to see it in action as a volunteer is a smart way to highlight the brand involvement.
