The Ladies Gaelic Football Association has unveiled its 50th anniversary commemorative jersey – which is now available to purchase.

The jersey, manufactured by O’Neills, has been released as the LGFA prepares to mark 50 years in existence on July 18, 2024.

Armagh Senior team captain Clodagh McCambridge and Kerry captain Niamh Carmody had the chance to try on the new jersey, and they were joined by Joan O’Reilly from the Ballymun Kickhams Gaelic4Mothers&Others, her daughter Avril Holmes from the senior team and granddaughter Aryia Holmes from the U10’s, and Róisín Whelan of Whitehall Colmcilles for a pitchside photocall.

The jersey design features the names of all counties and international units, while it also features the silhouette of the figure from the current LGFA logo and the outline of the ball from the surround of the previous LGFA logo.

The jersey brings in gold to symbolise purity and success, while also incorporating the pink and purple from the LGFA logo, which the Association will revert to following 50th anniversary celebrations.

Other design features include the LGFA’s official 50th anniversary logo, incorporated into a logo on the lower part of the jersey.

Another feature of the O’Neills jersey is the new knitted trim on the collar, incorporating the pink, purple and gold, and three silicone stripes on the sleeves.

“We are delighted to reveal our 50th anniversary jersey, which is a very special piece in what is a very special year for our Association,” said LGFA President, Micheál Naughton

“The LGFA has been on an incredible journey since its formation in Thurles on July 18, 1974, and we are fast approaching a landmark day in July.”

“We believe that this new jersey showcases some of the very best elements of the LGFA, and we hope that it’s a big hit with our many supporters in Ireland and around the world. Having worked closely alongside O’Neills on the jersey design, we are now incredibly proud to bring this creation to life.”

The 50th anniversary commemorative jersey is sure to be a big seller and is now available to purchase here.
