Swim Ireland has announced a new three-year partnership with Deloitte, strengthening support for its high-performance swimmers and divers as they target success on the international stage through to the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games and beyond.

The collaboration will see Deloitte play a central role in advancing Swim Ireland’s Performance Programme, aligning both organisations around a shared ambition of delivering sustained success, world-class athlete development and high-performance excellence.

The announcement comes against a strong backdrop for the sport. According to the Irish Sports Monitor 2024, swimming is the most popular sport among women and people with disabilities in Ireland, and ranks second among adults overall. It also underlined aquatics’ impact at elite level, with swimming emerging as Ireland’s most successful Olympic sport at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

Deloitte has an established presence within Ireland’s high-performance sporting ecosystem, including partnerships with the Olympic Federation of Ireland and Paralympics Ireland, as well as working closely with Olympic champion Daniel Wiffen.

This latest agreement further deepens its involvement in supporting elite athletes across Irish sport.

Swim Ireland’s Performance Programme has delivered consistent international results in recent years, and the addition of Deloitte is expected to enhance the performance environment further, providing athletes and coaches with additional resources and expertise.

“We are delighted to welcome Deloitte as a partner to our Performance Programme,” said Mary McMorrow, Interim CEO of Swim Ireland.

“Their existing commitment to Irish Olympic and Paralympic sport, and their support of one of our own Olympic champions, makes this partnership a strong alignment of values. This support will play an important role as we continue to develop a sustainable, world-class performance system for Irish swimming and diving.”

“Our partnership with Swim Ireland embodies the values we champion at Deloitte: high performing teams, inclusion and talent development,” added Aisléan Nicholson, Partner at Deloitte.

“We’re proud to support Swim Ireland and further enhance their capacity to provide a world-class performance environment, supporting athletes and coaches as they target success at European, World and Olympic level competition.”

For Wiffen, who has benefited directly from Deloitte’s backing, the announcement represents an important step for the next generation of athletes.

“As an athlete who has benefited from the incredible support from Deloitte, I’m delighted to see them come on board as an official partner of Swim Ireland,” he said.

“I know firsthand how vital this partnership will be for the next generation of Irish swimmers, and how it will drive continued success for Irish swimming on the world stage.”
