The DP World Tour has confirmed a renewed agreement with digital assets platform Nexo that will see the Nexo Championship return to Trump International Golf Links from August 20-23, 2026.
The tournament will once again form part of the Race to Dubai schedule, serving as the concluding event of the DP World Tour’s Closing Swing and the final tournament in the first phase of the 2026 season-long rankings race.
The announcement also means that two high-profile DP World Tour events in 2026 will be staged at Trump-owned golf resorts, with the Amgen Irish Open also set to take place at Trump International Golf Links & Hotel Doonbeg from September 10-13, 2026.
Nexo initially joined the DP World Tour as its Official Digital Wealth Platform through to 2027, before later taking on title sponsorship of the championship itself. The inaugural Nexo Championship introduced the “Course Record presented by Nexo” initiative, a rolling bonus fund that began at $10,000 per tournament and increased until a course record was broken, then reset.
The sponsorship renewal reflects the growing appetite among global financial and technology brands to align with premium golf properties that deliver access to affluent, internationally mobile audiences.
“The Nexo Championship has become something we are genuinely proud of – a tournament that launched the first-ever course record prize on the DP World Tour, and a Scottish champion on home soil in its inaugural year,” the company said in a statement.
“We are back because this partnership earns its place in our portfolio through a measurable long-term view. The Nexo Championship and the DP World Tour give us concentrated, recurring exposure to exactly the audience Nexo is built for – and that is a combination worth renewing.”
Ben Cowen, Chief Tournament and Operations Officer at the DP World Tour, welcomed the continuation of the partnership.
“We are pleased to have reached this new agreement with both Nexo and Trump International Golf Links for the Nexo Championship to again be part of our global schedule, and we thank them for their continued commitment,” he said.
“The Trump International Old Course has earned a reputation as one of the leading new links courses in the United Kingdom, and it was a great backdrop for last year’s tournament.”
The venue will also host the Staysure PGA Seniors Championship on the Legends Tour earlier in August, reinforcing Aberdeen’s growing status as a destination for elite tournament golf.
Eric Trump, speaking on behalf of the host venue, described the renewal as further validation of the resort’s ambitions within international golf.
“We are greatly honoured to host the DP World Tour’s Nexo Championship at Trump International, Scotland,” he said.
“It is a testament to the quality and stature of both the Old Course and New Course that they will host world-class tournaments this August.”
The event traces its origins back to 2020, when it first appeared on the Race to Dubai calendar as the Scottish Championship. Its evolution into the Nexo Championship highlights the increasing importance of long-term title partnerships in global golf and the growing crossover between sport, finance and technology brands.
Last year’s tournament saw Scotland’s Grant Forrest secure his second DP World Tour title, finishing four strokes clear of England’s Joe Dean. Forrest also became the inaugural winner of the Course Record presented by Nexo after shooting a second-round 66.
The 2026 edition will additionally feature a celebrity pro-am on Wednesday, August 19, broadening the commercial and entertainment appeal of tournament week.
For Nexo, the agreement forms part of a broader international sports sponsorship strategy that now spans golf, Formula One, tennis and football. Its portfolio includes partnerships with the Audi Revolut Formula 1 Team, the Australian Open, the Dallas Open and the Argentina national football team ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
