Centra, the longest-serving sponsor of the All-Ireland GAA Hurling Senior Championship, has launched a nationwide competition to find hurling’s next top scorer, with TJ Reid and Patrick Horgan, the two highest scorers in Championship history, fronting the campaign.
The Sharpshooter competition is aimed at identifying the game’s next generation of scoring sensations. It offers young hurlers aged 8 to 12 the chance to showcase their skills and win an unforgettable matchday experience at Croke Park.
Four winners will take on the prestigious role of flagbearer at this summer’s All-Ireland Hurling Semi-Finals and earn a €1,000 prize for their local GAA club.
In addition to its national sponsorship, the retailer backs over 1,000 GAA clubs locally through its network of stores, contributing more than €1.5 million in support of grassroots development.
To take part, young hopefuls can collect a Sharpshooter target sticker from participating Centra stores and attach it to their club’s hurling ball wall. Entrants are then asked to take aim at the target and upload a video of their attempt to social media, tagging @CentraIRL and their local GAA club.
“At Centra, we’ve proudly stood alongside the GAA and hurling communities across Ireland for the past 15 years,” said Des O’Mahony, Interim Marketing Director at Centra.
“We’re passionate about supporting the grassroots of the game and helping the next generation of stars rise through the ranks.”
“The GAA Sharpshooter competition is all about celebrating young talent, skill, and ambition — values that lie at the heart of hurling and of our brand. We are so proud to be the longest-serving sponsor of the All-Ireland GAA Hurling Senior Championship, extending our commitment up to the 2029 season.”
The competition opens on Monday, June 9th, and runs until Tuesday, June 24th. It is open to children aged 8–12 who are residents of the Republic of Ireland.
