Each weekend, we highlight some of the performances that light up the Irish sporting landscape.

This weekend, we highlight action in Hockey, Athletics, Gaelic Football, Golf, the League of Ireland and in Mixed Ability Rugby

This week’s Champions of the Weekend is brought to you by KPMG, one of Sport for Business’s key partners, and supporters of our coverage of Golf.

Irish Hockey

Ireland got their FIH Men’s Hockey World Cup qualification campaign off to a winning start after beating Canada 5-2 in Santiago, Chile on Sunday.  They will next play South Korea on Tuesday

Irish Athletics

Kate O’Connor, Sarah Lavin, Nick Griggs, Sharon Mawdsley and more of Ireland’s athletics stars delivered a star studded weekend for a sold out Sport ireland Campus National Indoor Arena over the weekend.

Dublin Football

Dublin have struggled so far this season but found their groove with a power packed win over Roscommon on Sunday, easing fears of relegation from Allianz League Division One.

Áine Donegan

The Clare Golfer made her debut on the Ladies European Tour at the Ford Women’s New South Wales Open and led the field going into the weekend, though fading over the second two days to finish up in a tie for 19th.  Great start though.

Bohemians

Bohs went three points clear at the top of the SSE Airtricity Men’s Premier Division with a dramatic 3-2 win over Shamrock Rovers at Dalympount Park on Friday night.  The drama came from two Rovers goals in injury time but it wasn’t enough.

Mixed Ability Rugby

Irish teams competed in an international mixed ability rugby tournament in Belgium at the weekend and we’ll have a report on this later in the week.
