Whether that is a marathon, a first time triathlon or a multiple Ironman, we will bring together the right people and the right information to make it better for you.
Aside from the physical, nutritional and mental coaching advice you will also get to meet fellow executives going through the same regime and testing themselves.

There were over 30 guests from individuals to agencies, sports organisations, sports tour operators, healthcare professionals and big businesses including SSE Airtricity and Electric Ireland.
We kicked off the morning with a talk from Stephen Nolan of Nutritics on some common sense starters on what to put into your body.
Three key take aways we took from the session:
- Stay hydrated. Carry a bottle of water with you. If you are dehydrated by 10% you are sick. By 20% and you are dead.
- Eat regularly. Three main meals and two snacks with no more than three hours between them is the optimum timetable. Think in advance where and what you are likely to eat.
- Watch portion size. A serving of cheese should be equivalent to six dice. Potato to a computer mouse. Don’t be dishonest to yourself.
Stephen was followed to his feet by Martin Kennedy and pretty soon the whole room was doing likewise. We are not sure how much stretching regularly takes place in the Laurence Crowley boardroom, but we like to break the norm.
Three things to stick in the mind from Martin’s talk were:
- There are 8 weeks to Christmas. If you want to get fit to meet a challenge in 2015, use this as the time to get prepared. You’ll be surprised at the ground you will have covered.
- Set an attainable but challenging target to move from your comfort zone into the ‘stretch’ zone.
- Every piece of exercise should be towards reaching that target, towards helping get you towards your goal.
‘Fit for Business’ will ‘download’ the reaction from the room this morning and produce a programme which will cover a number of small steps first and building as the group begins to grow and different members bring different ideas to the table.
Among the initial ideas are:
- An initial ‘event’ where a group of ‘Fit for Business’ executives will gather and join in one of the popular Park Runs taking place at locations around Ireland.
- A specific short term training programme to get from ‘Couch to 5K’ with the National Athlete Development Academy.
- A programme of education within workplaces to shift ‘the norm’ of office culture towards one where ‘biscuits and pastries’ are replaced by ‘fruit and fibre’ as healthy snacks.
