The Olympic Federation of Ireland (OFI), in partnership with Flogas, has this morning announced the launch of the Flogas Performance Programme.
Thanks to the generous donation of €75,000 in funding from the successful Flogas Dual Fuel tariff to the Make a Difference Fund, athletes and coaches can now apply for this additional financial support as they prepare for competition at the highest levels in 2025.
The programme marks the beginning of the LA28 Olympic cycle, building on the success of the 2024 season and laying the groundwork for sustained excellence leading into the 2026 Winter Olympics and the 2028 Summer Games.
Recognising that strong performances in 2025, 2026 and 2027 are critical to achieving success at the Olympics, this fund is aimed at supporting the development of athletes and coaches every year along the journey.
The fund will support extended training camps, additional competition opportunities, additional coaching hours, travel for international events, physiotherapy, nutrition, strength and conditioning, psychology, testing equipment and more.
The maximum award that will go to an individual athlete or coach is €5,000 or this can be doubled if it is for a programme that will benefit multiple athletes.
Applications are open to athletes, coaches, and National Federations whose sports are included in the Milano Cortina 2026 and LA 2028 programme.
The deadline for submissions is February 20, 2025, with a fast turn around and decisions to be communicated on or after February 26, 2025.
“We know that the Flogas Performance Programme support can and will make a difference in 2025,” said Gavin Noble, Team ireland Performance Director.
“Such funds have already proven its impact, contributing significantly to Team Ireland’s performances in Paris 2024. The programme is about investing in athletes and their daily performance environments with an ambition to enhance what they are already doing – targeted support for training, coaching or sports science.”
“This funding opportunity underscores the OFI and Flogas’ commitment to empowering Ireland’s top sporting talent on their journey to the world’s biggest stage.”
“This initiative is about more than just funding, it’s about enabling our athletes and coaches to push boundaries, reach new heights, and prepare for future success on the world stage,” added John Rooney, Flogas Managing Director.
“The continuation of this partnership will help to build the foundation for Ireland’s sporting achievements in Los Angeles 2028 and beyond.”
SPORT FOR BUSINESS PERSPECTIVE
The individual amounts that can make a significant difference are modest but having enough to mount a support system of scale requires the kind of commitment that Flogas is making in this cycle, just as they did on the road to Paris
WHAT’S UP NEXT?
Applications for the funding have to be in within the next week.
