The GAA will unveil a major new sponsorship deal at Croke Park today, one that will cross over between the Hurling and Camogie Championships in the same fashion as Liberty Insurance.
Sport for Business understands that it will be in the online retail space and thus not in conflict with any of the other main sponsors attached to the Championship season.
Liberty Insurance were the first major brand to take on sponsorship of the All Ireland Hurling and Camogie Championships and expressed their satisfaction with the Camogie partnership when speaking at Sport for Business’ Teaming Up for Women in Sport event in Dublin last week.
Their replacement of Guinness in 2013 was the last change in brands attached to the Hurling Championship with Centra and Etihad Airways both having long term deals in place prior to that.
Centre extended their deal to 2019 earlier this season.
Etihad Airways five year extension to an original deal signed in 2008 expires this season and it may be that the brand will divert its GAA support towards the World Games which it helped to establish in 2015 and the Etihad Skyline Tour.
That would free up space for the new sponsor and Sport for Business will bring you the latest news on that later today.
