Entries for the Irish Sport Industry Awards will now close on Tuesday, April 22nd.

The awards celebrate and reward excellence in the areas of importance that surround sport while simultaneously highlighting the contribution of sport to the Irish economy.

Among the winners of last year’s Awards were The Olympic Federation of Ireland and Dare to Believe, the FAI Connect Programme, Sports Key and Precision Sports Technology in the Business categories, Field of Vision, Sports Direct Gaelic for Mothers and Others, Canoeing Ireland, Sarah Keane and John Trainor.

Previous winners of the Best Sports Sponsorship Awards include Sky Ireland and the FAI Women’s National Team; Softco for its partnership with Irish Hockey; Lidl for its collaboration with Ladies’ Football; and Allianz’s support of Paralympics Ireland.

The Sport industry in Ireland supports 64,000 jobs, stimulates €3.3 billion in household spending, and generates €3.7 billion (GVA) gross value added to the Irish economy.

The award categories celebrated each year are designed to recognise a wide range of aspects of sport from entrepreneurship with Best Sports Businesses (new and existing), sports media coverage with the Jimmy Magee Award for Best Sports Coverage of the Year, good governance and leadership in sport with the leading governing body and local sports partnership initiatives, and the commercial, inclusivity and promotion of sport with Best Sports Sponsorship, Best Inclusivity initiative, Best promotion of Women in Sport, Best Use of Communications platforms, and the Outstanding Achievement Award.

The entries will be judged by a panel comprising media, PR, and independent sports industry experts, chaired by Core Sponsorship Director Jill Downey.

Among the judges named so far are Rob Hartnett of Sport for Business, Elma Beirne of Wasserman, Stephen Bradshaw of Close Brothers, and Maeve Buckley of Leading Sport.

The Jimmy Magee FIS/ASJI Award for Sports Coverage of the Year will be independently adjudicated by the Association of Sports’ Journalists Ireland (ASJI).
