April 2026 was the second-most active month on record for Sport for Business members on social media. Over 15,400 posts were published across X, Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok in April, producing 3.64 million engagements and 14.2 million TikTok views.
In the concluding part of our four-part series today, we turn our attention to TikTok, which continues to shine as the standout social media channel for Irish Sport.
Friday: TikTok
In the infographics below, we have ranked each organisation across a range of metrics on each network, including the most active, the most engaged with, and the most engaging content, as well as, where possible, engagements per 1,000 followers.
It is important to note that this analysis is based on publicly available data. It does not include any analysis or insight on paid or promoted content. When % figures are used (unless otherwise stated), they refer to the previous month’s figures.
April 2026 Highlights on TikTok
Overview
Sport for Business member organisations posted 699 (-15%) videos last month. These posts resulted in 941,299 engagements (-53%) and 14.2 million views (-48%). In keeping with the other channels that were down on a very busy March.
Two years ago, when we started tracking TikTok, those numbers were 306 videos generating 413,744 engagements and only 9.23 million views. This is clearly holding its own as the social media of choice for fans in 2026.
Highlights
Five organisations broke the magic million views for the month – the United Rugby Championship leading the way once more with 4.1 million views, followed by Ulster Rugby (3.3 million), Ireland Football (1.5 million), League of Ireland (1.3 million), and HRI (1.2 million).
The NIFL topped the activity charts with 146 posts, and they were followed by Boxing Ireland (93) and the League of Ireland (84).
On engagement-per-post performance, Ulster Rugby delivered last month’s strongest results, averaging 22,462 engagements per post, followed by Ireland Football (9,109) and the URC (3,013).
Rugby content from Ulster and the URC generated eight out of the top ten viewed posts during the month.
Two others that stood out were HRI’s I Am Maximus Grand National win, and the moment Ireland’s Football MU17 squad found out they had qualified for the World Cup.
