Kellogg’s Nutri Grain has renewed its association with golf via the second year sponsorship of the The GUI National Golf Academy Kellogg’s Nutri-Grain Skills Challenge.
The event attracted hundreds of clubs in its first year and is expected to grow now having established itself on the calendar.
Any GUI affiliated club can enter a three strong men’s or women’s team in one of seven qualifying rounds running from June 7th to August 23rd.
They will take place in Dublin, Cork, Galway, Belfast and at the GUI National Academy at Carton House.
Entry to the competition is free and there will be national winners in both team and individual categories.
“The Kellogg’s Nutri-Grain Skills Challenge is an integral part of the Better Golf programme we introduced last year,” said Alan Kelly, manager of the Academy. “The Skills Challenge gives golfers the opportunity to engage in focused practice, with a measurable goal at the end of it. We hope that clubs up and down the island of Ireland engage with us and begin thinking about their teams for the challenge ahead.”
“I participated in this event last year and, like many other golfers, I found that some of my basic golf skills needed some work,” said Jim McNeil, Managing Director of Kellogg’s Ireland who also have their European base of operations here.
“We are delighted to be able to support Irish golf and in particular, the great work that the GUI Academy is doing to enhance the skills of Irish golfers and we would encourage all golfers to get involved in this event, in 2013.”
Speaking at the Carton House launch, Kellogg’s Nutri-Grain Ambassador, Rob Kearney added; “As a professional athlete I know that by honing your skills day in and day out that you make the small, yet crucial, improvements that can help to bring a winning performance. This is a great event and one that will test golfers of all standards.”
Kellogg’s is the official snack provider to the IRFU and won a prestigious European Sponsorship Award for the first year of its GAA Cúl Camps initiative in 2012. It also supports the Swim Ireland Learn to Swim programme through an on pack voucher promotion mechanic.
