The U20 GAA All-Ireland Hurling Championship is to have a new sponsor in the shape of Ireland’s largest sportswear manufacturer O’Neills.

They will take over on a four-year deal from this season, replacing Bord Gais Energy who had been the title sponsors alongside their investment in the Senior Hurling Championship and the Legends Tour at the Croke Park Museum.

As part of the title sponsorship package, the oneills.com logo will feature prominently at multiple games from 2022 to 2025. The sponsorship will also see O’Neills incorporate a TV sting, a first for the company in its 104-year history.

The Championship coincides with the sportswear manufacturers’ development of the smart sliotar, which will be on trial in the U20 Championship.

The sportswear giant has seen significant growth in its eCommerce business over the past two years. It is expanding the warehouse facilities at its eCommerce HQ in Strabane to accommodate the increasing demand for its products from clubs and customers across the world.

Expansion

The expansion will include new automation that will allow faster processing of orders.

“We are delighted to come on board as the U20 GAA Hurling Championship title sponsor for the next four seasons,” said Marketing Manager Cormac Farrell.

“We have a long-standing tradition of supporting Gaelic Games. This significant investment showcases our steadfast commitment. Our eCommerce business via oneills.com has expanded in the past two years. This sponsorship provides us with a fantastic platform to increase brand awareness of our online offering to customers.”

“The GAA is delighted to welcome oneills.com as the new title sponsor of our U20 Hurling All-Ireland Championships,” added GAA President Larry McCarthy.

“This commitment, along with the development of the smart sliotar adds another dimension to O’Neill’s support of hurling. We are grateful to oneills.com for their sponsorship and look forward to what will no doubt be an array of great games in the coming weeks and months.”
