The company started life as a straightforward news agency providing mainstream media with news and reports in the same way as the Press Association but has seen its business model adapt as the world of sports media and marketing have become blurred.

“We work with sports governing bodies and rights holders as well as sponsors and media to create content that will they will deliver to fans through the strong new owned channels as well as the earned ones that have always been the staple of good sponsorship and event campaigns,” said Managing Director James Parsons speaking to Sport for Business.

“We work with the British Olympic teams and major sporting bodies including the FA where we provide the content that drives a voracious appetite for news around the big sporting events and teams.”

“In Ireland we have existing relationships with the RBS 6 Nations and the British and Irish Lions as well as with Lifestyle Sports and we see Irish sport as a winner in the future.”

“We see SportsBeat in Ireland as helping to tell great sporting stories on a national and international stage and to assist sporting bodies develop powerful, measurable  relationships with their commercial partners.”

SportsBeat produces online text, audio and video content which can be delivered through a brand or an events own media, online and social, as well as being syndicated for greater reach in the mainstream media channels that deliver to fans in areas they are visiting.

It will be interesting to see how the new agency fits in with the established PR and Sponsorship agency community here in Dublin.  There may be an initial fear that they are threatening to take a slice of a market that is already very competitive but with the growth of demand for content from ‘inside’ an event or a sport there is likely to be incremental value in what they produce.

Content creation will be one of the key themes at The Future of Digital Sport being held in Dublin on Wednesday morning, October 21st. Click on the link below to book your place for the event which will gather together leaders and practitioners from across the sport, sponsorship, data and sports marketing fields.
