The GAA Director General’s Annual Report and the Association’s accounts runs to 200 pages but is worth every word as a snapshot of the country’s biggest sporting and civil organisation.
The headline numbers are positive with annual revenue up from €112.1 million in 2023 to €132.9 million in 2024.
Commercial revenue outside of Croke Park, consisting of sponsorship, media rights and licensing is up 19% to over €25 million.
The hosting of Bruce Springsteen, Coldplay and AC/DC was worth a bottom line contribution of €5 million after no concerts the previous year.
Beyond the numbers there is valuable commentary on the core mission of the GAA but also about ethics, integrity and volunteerism, three crucial elements under attack across aspects of society around the world.
Over the next two weeks we will take ten key themes from the report, dive into them with analysis and opinion, and hopefully find gems that will be transferable across the Sport for Business membership.
WHAT’S UP NEXT?
Tomorrow we will focus on the nuts and bolts of revenue and expenditure.
