Louise Ní Muircheartaigh will step out at Croke Park on Sunday for the TG4 All Ireland Ladies Football Final with an extra pep having been named as the PwC GAA/GPA Footballer of the Month for July.

She will though be hoping for a different outcome than Waterford’s Beth Carton who is the Camogie winner but had to settle for a losing spot at last weekend’s Glen Dimplex Camogie All Ireland Final.

She would be happier following the trajectory of Cian Lynch, winner of the Hurling award and the All Ireland title last month.

Brendan Rogers of Derry won the Men’s Football award.

Ní Muircheartaigh has been unstoppable this season with 4-24 to her name, the highest scorer in the championship so far.

“On behalf of all of us at PwC, I would like to extend our sincerest congratulations to Louise, Beth, Brendan and Cian on being named the July Player of the Month Award winners,” said Managing Partner Enda McDonogh.

“July has seen another month of incredible sporting talent on display, with some fiercely contested semi-finals across all codes. All winners are more than worthy of this award, with each player standing out for their commendable work ethic and skill.”

“It is a privilege to partner alongside the GPA and the GAA to recognise both women and men for their tremendous sporting achievements in the Gaelic Games.”

“To win these personal accolades is always very special but to win them in the closing stages of the season is even more so,” added Tom Parsons, CEO of the Gaelic Players Association.

“It means that when the chips were down these players stood up and were counted.”
