The International Canoe Federation will host a global symposium on gender equality in the sport at the Grand Hotel in Malahide this week.

Minister of State for Sport and Physical Education Thomas Byrne will get proceedings underway alongside Sport Ireland CEO Dr Una May and a video message from International Olympic Committee President Thomas Bach.

There will be keynote speeches, leadership workshops and panel discussions over the two days, hosted by Canoeing ireland fresh from qualifying two boats for the Paris Olympic Games at the World Championships in London over the weekend.

There will be opportunities to talk about some of the successes that the sport has delivered locally in recent years and plenty of engagement with the global attendees.
