Naz Velic – Trinity College Dublin

Naz Velic is the Physical Activity Inclusion officer in Trinity Sport. The role was the first of its kind in the Irish education sector.

He first joined the Student union as a recreation and sport intern and was appointed to the newly created role in 2020.

His remit is to make the 49 sports clubs that are part of campus life as inclusive as possible as well as to help guide volunteers in developing their knowledge and awareness of EDI.

Naz has developed visual impacts for a number of themed weeks including dedicated signage around the sports centre and has redesigned the training workshops for clubs and volunteers so that they are getting the best training to ensure that EDI is at the forefront of all sports club activities.

He has successfully gained funding for various projects within his first year which included building works for access, new equipment to make sport easier to take part in and funding for training and awareness.

Velic is a graduate of the Technological University of Dublin.

This annual list identifies those under the age of 30 who are making a mark in the business of sport in 2022. It is compiled with the ongoing support of PwC, ‘where potential becomes success’.

The criteria for nomination is that they should either be working in a role that sees them playing a significant part in sports administration, sports marketing or the commercial world of sport; or that they are a graduate of an Irish third-level institution and making their mark on the international stage, and that they were born in or after 1992.
