PwC, Ireland’s largest professional services firm, has renewed its partnership with the GAA and the Gaelic Players Association for a further three years from the start of next year.
PwC’s original partnership with the GAA/GPA commenced in 2012 and this renewal will extend the sponsorship to the end of 2017.
“The GAA is one of the leading sports organisations in the world and this is evidenced by its enormous national and international following, its integration into Ireland’s culture and its superb facilities built up by its membership throughout the Ireland and abroad,” said PwC Senior Partner Ronan Murphy at yesterday’s announcement.
“All of this is the result of hard work, efficient organisation and cooperation at every level within the Association.”
“Over the past three years, this sponsorship has been very positively received by our clients and our people. As a training ground for Ireland’s business leaders of the future the continuation of our link with the GAA/GPA is a perfect fit for the Firm.
“We also look forward to continuing to work closely with the GPA and the GAA to play our part in ensuring the continued success of the Player Development Programme which is such an important element of the support system made available to inter-county players.”
Endorsement
“We are delighted that PwC will extend our partnership and the continuation of the relationship is in itself an endorsement of the work the three organisations have carried out together since coming together formally in 2012,” added GAA President Liam O’Neill.
“PwC are leaders in their field and it is encouraging to note the number of top footballers and hurlers who work with the company. I wish everyone involved every success with the ongoing work, all of which benefits our players.”
GPA CEO Dessie Farrell added: “PwC’s dedication to excellence, teamwork and leadership resonates strongly with the core values within the GPA and we are thrilled that their commitment to supporting players and both Associations is being renewed for three years.”
Role Models
“There is no doubt that great businesses can be a force for good in society and this support of players as role models, facing up to some of the real challenges we face in communities across Ireland is a real example of that.”
PwC employees Cian O’Sullivan and Liam Rushe of Dublin were present at the launch, alongside Ciaran Lyng and Martin O’Hanlon of Wexford and others that are part of the extended family linking the three organisations.
We can expect more to emerge from this relationship over the coming weeks and months as both sides look to make the most of the collaborative nature of the relationship.
PwC, the GAA and the GPA are full members of the Sport for Business community of leaders in business and sport. Find out more today about how you might benefit from membership.
