Arvo Final BannerThe first in a series of national Sport for Business Sports Club roadshows takes place in Cork on Thursday night and has attracted representatives from clubs across a wide range of sports.

The roadshow is designed to give clubs practical advice about how they can face their financial future with inputs from Rob Hartnett of Sport for Business on how to tell the story of your club to potential partners; from Mike McGrath of Arvo on the power of smart purchasing of services; from Warren Healy of My Club Finances on effective management in a volunteer led environment; and from Richard Pearson of Pledge Sports on widening the base of fundraising contributors.

Almost 40 clubs will attend the evening event at UCC’s Western Gateway building.  They come from Archery, Badminton, Cricket, American Football, Martial Arts, Athletics, Soccer, Gaelic Games, Fitness, Rowing, Golf, Gymnastics and Cycling.

“Cork is the first stop on a roadshow which will extend in 2015 to Dublin, Limerick, Galway and Belfast,” said Sport for Business CEO Rob Hartnett.

“Clubs across all sports face many of the same issues when it comes to funding and management.”

“We will point them in the direction of smart ways to address some of the common problems they face and give them confidence to harness the abundance of energy and attraction they have within local communities.”

“There has been a great response so far from the clubs around Cork and we are looking forward to an evening that will make a real difference to how they plan and execute in 2015.”

“This is the start of creating a Sports Club hub where people from across sports can share ways in which to grow and manage their clubs in a collaborative fashion.”

Attendance at the event, kicking off at 6.30 in the Western Gateway building at UCC is free of charge but prior registration is required at www.sportsforbusiness2.ab6z.com.
