Tickets for all of Ireland’s games at the Rugby World Cup will go on sale again this coming Thursday, May 28th from tickets.rugbyworldcup.com.
In total an additional 100,000 tickets will be made available after a number of stadia seating plans were reconfigured, sponsors and commercial partners released tickets back and individuals who had bought but can no longer go entered into the ticket resale programme.
A total of 8,000 of the tickets are for the Olympic Stadium in London covering matches involving Ireland, France, South Africa, New Zealand and the Bronze Play Off on October 30th.
“With less than four months to go the excitement for the tournament is building, and we are pleased to be able to offer fans another chance to purchase tickets,” said Rugby World Cup Managing Director Stephen Brown.
“With many great games available, including England v Uruguay in Manchester, and all ticket categories on offer, this is another opportunity for fans that missed out first time around to watch world-class rugby in person.”
The sale of this latest batch of tickets will nudge the total sold over 2,000,000 out of a total ticket availability for the tournament 2,300,000. The shortfall is largely made up of smaller matches involving lesser teams at regional venues.
Sport for Business understands that a number of the games involving England were oversubscribed by eight and ten times.
Ticketing will be a major factor in the bid to host the Rugby World Cup here in 2023 and valuable lessons will be drawn from the processes of sale and subsequent redistribution being undertaken by the England 2015 organisers.
