If you want an insight into likely Cheltenham star Rachael Blackmore then her appearance on the Audi Driving Progress podcast that dropped this week, just in time for the Festival, could be just the thing.
Blackmore is an ambassador for Audi Naas and in the show she chats with host Emma Dabiri about winning the Aintree Grand National, being crowned the BBC Sports Personality World Sport Star of the Year, her personal passions and more.
In the 18-minute episode, Blackmore discusses her passion for horse racing, the incredible year she had in 2021 and how she began her career as one of Ireland’s most successful jockeys.
Touching on dealing with her newfound success, Blackmore gets frank about how getting older has provided her invaluable life experience.
“I’d love to tell you that I was good for meditation or something like that. But I’m not. I got an exemption from a meditation class in my Transition Year because I was ruining it for everyone else.”
She also reveals her secret love of Gymnastics, albeit admitting she was blessed with only the minimum amount of talent in that sporting arena.
Such is not the case in racing though. Blackmore rides hot favourite Honeysuckle as she bids to retain her Champion Hurdle crown at the Cheltenham Festival this afternoon.
