Clean Cut Meals, the Galway-founded ready meal company, has been announced as the Official GAA/GPA Ready Meals Partner as part of a new three-year partnership with the Gaelic Players Association and the GAA.

The announcement comes alongside new research highlighting the growing challenge many Irish adults and elite athletes face in maintaining healthy eating habits amid increasingly busy lifestyles.

According to the research, 74 per cent of intercounty players identified a lack of time as the biggest barrier to eating well, while over 80 per cent said they include ready-to-heat meals as part of their diet.

Among the wider public, 57 per cent of adults said they struggle to decide what to eat for lunch daily or most days, while 95 per cent reported eating the same lunch multiple times each week. One in three adults also admitted to deciding on lunch on the spot with no planning.

The findings underline the growing demand for convenient but nutritionally balanced food options, particularly among athletes and consumers balancing work, training and family commitments.

As part of the agreement, Clean Cut Meals will continue to expand its presence across Ireland, with its high-protein ready meals available in SuperValu and Centra stores nationwide.

Founded in Galway, the company has built its reputation around chef-prepared meals made with natural ingredients, designed to provide convenience without compromising on nutritional quality.

“We’re delighted to come on board with the GAA/GPA as the Official Ready Meals Partner,” said Clean Cut Meals co-founder Micheál Dyer.

“We’re extremely proud to be a Guaranteed Irish company and of our connection to Gaelic Games.”

“What this research shows is that many people are under real time pressure when it comes to food. Even when you know what you should be eating, it’s not always easy to put that into practice.”

“At Clean Cut Meals, we focus on providing tasty meals that are nutritionally balanced, high in protein and made with quality ingredients. Crucially, they’re designed for busy lives, giving people confidence in what they’re eating, without adding complexity to their day.”

The GPA said the partnership would support both the welfare and performance needs of intercounty players, with nutrition continuing to play an increasingly important role in elite preparation and recovery.

“The Gaelic Players Association are delighted to welcome Clean Cut Meals to the table as a supporter of inter-county players,”  said GPA CEO Tom Parsons.

“While their financial backing will directly impact the welfare and development of GPA members, Clean Cut Meals’ expertise will also help us grow a very meaningful partnership, given that nutrition is a central element of elite sporting performance.”

The GAA also welcomed the addition of another Irish brand to its commercial portfolio.

“Clean Cut Meals is an exciting Irish success story, and we are very pleased to welcome them as an Official GAA/GPA partner,” said GAA Commercial Director Peter McKenna.

“Their focus on quality, convenience and nutrition aligns strongly with the values and needs of our players and members.”

The partnership reflects the increasing emphasis on nutrition within Gaelic Games, both at the elite intercounty level and among the broader playing population, while also highlighting changing consumer habits around meal preparation and convenience foods.

With players and consumers alike facing time pressures, the research suggests convenience is becoming an increasingly important factor in food choices, provided nutritional standards and ingredient quality remain high.
