Each weekend, we select performances from Irish sports worthy of highlighting. This weekend, we are highlighting the Munster Hurling and Football Championships, the Boylesports Irish Grand National, a comeback in the League of Ireland and success for Irish Hockey and Irish Rugby.
This week’s Champions of the Weekend is brought to us by AIG, one of Sport for Business’s key partners and supporters of our Annual 50 Women of Influence in Irish Sport.
Hurling
Sunday’s two Munster Hurling Championship matches produced high drama and two drawn games. Clare overturned a 12-point halftime deficit against Cork, and Limerick and Tipperary went toe to toe throughout.
Stunning sport altogether.

Hockey
A hugely successful weekend in European competitions saw two Irish clubs secure medal positions, while several Irish International athletes medaled with their clubs in the Euro Hockey League, Europe’s top-tier club hockey competition.
Bohemians
2-0 down after 70 minutes away to rivals Shamrock Rovers, things were not looking good for Bohemians, but goals from Dawson Devoy, Ross Tierney and teenager Rhys Brennan in the 95th minute turned it around in more high drama from the League of Ireland.
Irish Women’s Rugby
A second away win of the Guinness Women’s Six Nations for Ireland, outscoring Wales by 40 points to 14 in Newport and double tries for Dorothy Wall and Linda Djougang.
Munster Football
Another belter of a game for the GAA in Munster on Saturday night with Cork pushing Kerry to the pin of their collar in a dramatic Munster Championship semi-final at SuperValu Pairc Uí Chaoimh.
Fairyhouse
There was a win for Wales in the Boylesports Irish Grand National on Monday with Haiti Couleurs taking the big prize back across the Irish sea.
