The Gaelic Players Association is seeking proposals for the development of a new Membership Management System and Website.

As part of the ongoing process of integration of the Gaelic Players Association and Women’s Gaelic Players Association as one combined players’ body, these practical steps are being taken to consolidate the operation of what will move from 2,300 members to more than 4,000.

“The needs of the players are at the heart of everything we do and making sure the technology is right to enable that is central to this review,” said Eamon Murphy, the GOPA’s Player Representation Manager, speaking to us this week.

“The new system will need to provide comprehensive realtime data and profiling of each member to allow us best serve their needs and plan for what we can do in the future.”

“On the website front, we want to make it as user friendly as possible, designed to deliver optimal navigation and allow for the straight forward updating of information on a day-to-day basis by the GPA in-house team.”

Players are using a lot of technology in managing their fitness and wellbeing and we want something that will complement what they are comfortable with and what works best for them, as well as being best in class.”

“We are casting the net as wide as we can and the closing date for completing the RFP is next Friday, March 4th.”

The ideal situation would be for a company that already has an understanding of player needs to get involved. It is always good to support one’s own if that matches the criteria that have been set.

This is one aspect of an exciting amalgamation.

The position of CEO of the new body is also open to application at the moment.

There may not be any collective training going on but there is a lot of activity going on behind the scenes for our elite inter County Gaelic Games players.
