With over 6.5 million public engagements across the four main platforms, the March 2025 Olytico analysis covers 14,500 posts.  This figure is +30% up on February 2025, broadly in line with March 2024.

The in-depth analysis through this week will continue to illustrate the ever-growing dominance of Instagram and TikTok, as together, they accounted for 86% of the overall engagement.

It is important to note that this analysis is based on publicly available data. It does not include any analysis or insight on paid or promoted content. When % figures are used (unless otherwise stated), they refer to the previous month’s figures.

 

February 2025 Highlights on Instagram

 

 

Instagram activity rose 38% to 3,577 posts but saw a 15% decrease in engagements to 4.23 million. For context Instagram contributes 25% of posts to the ‘main’ analysis figures and delivers over 80% of engagements.

In March 2024 the respective numbers were 2,783 posts and 5.86 million engagements, as with other channels driven by Ireland’s success in the Guinness SixNations.

The League of Ireland topped the activity charts with 620 posts (+23% on last month and up from 420 in March of 2024) as they celebrated the LOI’s impact on the qualification of the U17M team for the U-17 World Cup.

In second, the Camogie Association (249, +92%) announced Niamh McGrath as the Club Player of the Year, and in third, Athletics Ireland (219, +34%) celebrated Sarah Healy becoming the 3,000m Indoor European Champion.

 


 

Gymnastics Ireland (38, +850%) saw Rhys McClenaghan visit a GymSTART event, the LOI Women’s Premier Division (160, +493%) season kicked off with the WNT stars repping their former LOI clubs in support, and Sport Ireland (17, +183%) confirmed a record €27 million in High Performance Sport investment for 2025.

Irish Rugby topped the average engagement per post chart (7,737, -49%) as the Men’s Senior team met the stars of the Irish Special Olympics team during their victorious homecoming.

In second, Ireland Football (3,841, +23%) welcomed young Mason to training as he continued his recovery (link), and in third, the GAA (3,298, -19%) congratulated the ‘Boys of Offaly’ as they claimed the Allianz National Football League Division 3 title with victory over Kildare (link).

Team Ireland (1,538, +214%) celebrated Kate O’Connor’s Silver Medal for Pentathlon at the World Athletics Indoor Championship in China, and Northern Ireland (1,081, +117%) congratulated Jamie Donley on his first call up to the Senior Squad.

Special Olympics Ireland (155, +50%) had a fantastic month as their athletes made history in Turin, bringing back 11 medals and four placed finishes from Turin.

 

With a 625% increase to February, the LOI Women’s Premier Division (6,543) claimed the top spot for ‘highest engagements per 1,000 followers’, just as they did in yersterday’s analysis of Facebook.

 

 

With close to 100,000 public engagements this post from Irish Rugby celebrating the international careers of Peter O’Mahony, Conor Murray and Cian Healy was by far and away the most engaged Instagram post in March.
