Newstalk 2015 GAA Coverage LaunchThroughout the long career of Micheál O’Muircheartaigh radio coverage of the GAA has been an important part in how it reaches every corner of an Irish summer.  RTÉ still leads the way with Saturday and Sunday sport  but live coverage is split now and Newstalk were yesterday out and about launching what will be their fifth year covering the All Ireland Championships.

Former Mayo football manager James Horan, recently retired Kilkenny hurler Brian Hogan and Tipperary legend Eoin Kelly have joined the team to offer insight and analysis on the games they will be covering.

“We are always excited when Championship season comes around,” said Newstalk Sports Editor Adrian Barry.

“Every member of the Off the Ball team lives and breathes football and hurling, and we have secured another all-star panel that will help us deliver the very best GAA coverage.”

“Throughout the 2015 season Off the Ball will be broadcasting seven days a week, supported by live reports and commentary from Championship games, bringing keen insights and analysis to provide listeners with the best coverage on radio and on Newstalk.com.”

GAA President Aogán Ó Fearghail added that “Newstalk is an important media partner of the GAA, and their coverage of our Championship games is comprehensive. Newstalk delivers media coverage of the highest standard, and we look forward to continuing our relationship for the 2015 Championship.”

Newstalk’s 2014 GAA coverage included three provincial finals and two quarter finals.
