Basketball Ireland has announced a new sponsor reaching out to 520 schools and 28,000 young players across the country.
Subway has been unveiled as the new title sponsors of the Subway All Ireland Schools Cup. The partnership is important in terms of monetary value but also in showing that a major global brand is willing to get involved locally in a sport which is soaring around the world.
Subway has 237 stores throughout Ireland and will engage with franchisees all over the country encouraging them to support their local school when the season re-commences later in the summer summer.
The sponsorship will be supported with a full activation plan which will include Low Fat Sub sampling, sports equipment for schools, training sessions with International players and nutritional advice from professional dieticians.
“Our stores are all locally owned and operated by individual franchisees who work in the heart of local communities,” said Neil Black, Subway Ireland Development Agent.
“We wanted to find a way that would support young athletes in their pursuit of excellence as they represent their schools and their communities.”

Basketball Ireland has over 28,000 school players from over 520 schools registered with the organisation. Active in 32 counties, the sport is Ireland’s number one indoor sport.
The Subway brand also works with sports stars throughout the world including Tommy Bowe, Pelé, swimmer Michael Phelps, and boxer Anthony Ogogo to encourage people to lead a healthier, more active lifestyle.
The brand was previously a strong supporter of Cycling Ireland’s Sprocket Rocket programme for young cyclists.
